Tate makes Porsche Carrera Cup GB debut (3-8-09)

Andrew Tate made his Carrera Cup debut at Snetterton (1/2 August) with Apex Motorsport and plans more races this season before a full campaign in 2010.

The Monaco resident had done a limited amount of racing in the Porsche Open over the last two seasons, but will now focus on the Carrera Cup GB. He plans to race at Silverstone and Brands Hatch later this season, having had a delayed start to the year after breaking his shoulder skiing in February.

“I just love the atmosphere of the Carrera Cup, but I’m still very short on seat time at the moment,” said Tate (45). He duly finished both races at Snetterton, gaining valuable experience in the process.

Tate's ultimate ambition is to contest the Porsche Supercup race at Monaco, where he lives 200 yards from the track.
